This is cool! I think this boils down to something I've been thinking about a lot lately - creating value by unlocking exploration/analysis/adventure. I don't have a thesis defined yet, but something about how we like our Apple Watches because we can get synthesized analysis of our health metrics over time and treat is as an "adventure" to optimize our metrics to achieve our goals or solve health problems we might have. "Oooo .. I wonder how my sleep impacts my step imbalance". Apple Health gives me the ability to try to answer that question.
Here, the idea of layering on various 3rd party applications let's us not only manage our time better in the present, but also plan better for the future and discover patterns now that the data is put right there in front of us. We all become our own mini investigators/optimizers.
